Family Law

Carvers provides a specialised family law service. The family law service provides help to clients in both public law and private law areas.

Public law

This area of law is often referred to as 'Care Proceedings' and generally refers to circumstances where the Social Services Department of the Local Authority is trying to intervene in your family's life in some way.
This could include:-

• Application for a Care or Supervision Order
• Application for a Secure Accommodation Order
• Application to extend/renew a Supervision Order
• Application for discharge of a Care Order or Supervision Order

These proceedings are ALWAYS very stressful and we are willing to support you at every stage including attendance at Child Protection Conferences and other important meetings as well as actual court hearings.

In most of these cases Public Funding (legal aid) is free and not subject to the usual merits test.

Carvers have experience across the board as they represent not only parents but also children. Two of the team are members of the Law Society's Children Panel.

Private Law

Public funding

Carvers are able to offer Legal Aid funding, holding a franchise with the Legal Services Commission in family law. We are able to grant applications for public funding on an emergency basis where immediate Court action is required, such as the return of a snatched child or the grant of a domestic violence injunction.
